11 YouTube for Business Tips You Need

11 YouTube for Business Tips You Need - YouTube for business tips

“11 YouTube for Business Tips You Need” written by Mike Marko.

If you’re a business owner, it’s not at all surprising to look for YouTube for business tips.

That’s because YouTube is now generally agreed to be one of the best marketing tools today’s businesses can employ.

YouTube’s wide reach and relative ease of use make it very attractive for brands seeking to publish video content.

Its ever-improving advertising options only add to its appeal.

In spite of those things, however, some people still manage to flub the way they use it for business.

For example, they find their videos getting depressingly low views no matter what they upload. Or they fail to make the most of its ad targeting options.

That’s where good YouTube for business tips can help.

I’ve put together the best ones here so you can avoid making mistakes with your own YouTube marketing.

Vital YouTube for Business Tips

Before I begin with my list of YouTube for business tips, let me make a quick note first on the importance of video marketing.

We live in an age where video is arguably the media format most consumers prefer.

In fact, Cisco estimates that IP video traffic will account for 82% of all IP traffic by 2022. That’s up from 75% in 2017.

This may be what is spurring so many marketers to claim that video marketing is the future. Even if it won’t be all of the future, it’s fairly safe to say it will still make up a big part of it.

So these YouTube for business tips I’m about to give you could have a big impact on your business.

If you use them properly, you may see your business growing significantly thanks to your video marketing.

1) Optimize Your Profile

The first of my YouTube for business tips may seem too “basic” for most. However, you’d be surprised how many business owners skip it in a rush to publish videos.

Don’t make that mistake. Your YouTube profile can actually help you get more leads and subscriptions, and even boost your SEO.

Fill out all fields in it. Wherever applicable (like the description), use keywords — but use them organically.

If you plan to follow a posting schedule (and you should, which I’ll explain in another of my YouTube for business tips), note it in your profile.

Add contact details too, of course. You should always do this for social media accounts.

2) Invest in Video Production Tools or Skills

Your content will be largely responsible for your success on this platform, so this had to be in my YouTube for business tips.

Investing in tools that can help you produce better videos or taking courses for it is worthwhile. As long as it improves the quality of the videos you produce, it’s worth thinking about.

Quality counts for a lot in YouTube marketing. The better your videos, the more likely they are to get more views and leads.

So do what you can to better the videos you make for your brand. If you have to go through a tutorial or two to learn how to produce better videos, do it.

It can pay off in the long run.

3) Use Custom Thumbnails

Thumbnails are the image previews YouTube video search results display for each video.

A good thumbnail can make the difference between you getting a view or not.

So using great thumbnails is among my YouTube for business tips. That’s because just allowing YouTube to grab a frame from your video for an automatic thumbnail can lead to blurry, unattractive results.

Make your own thumbnails using custom image editing software. Here’s a bonus bit of advice for this one of my YouTube for business tips — try Canva.

4) Brand Your Content and Channel

Branding your content and channel is another of my YouTube for business tips.

By doing this, you’re making your brand more visible as well as memorable to viewers.

You’re also establishing an image for your business that can help build brand affinity and recognition.

To brand your content, think about adding custom branding overlays or intros to videos.

As for your channel, you can make header and profile images that show your logo.

5) Have a Channel Trailer

Making a channel trailer is next in my YouTube for business tips.

A channel trailer is a video that plays automatically when people visit your channel. It’s supposed to give them a taste of the content you put on your channel.

Use it to show viewers the value of your brand’s content. Add a call to action for them to subscribe so they don’t miss any of your videos.

6) Cross-Promote Videos

Since one of the great things about YouTube is that it lets you embed videos on it in other media, this had to be in my YouTube for business tips list.

Promote your videos by sharing them on other sites and platforms.

Share them on Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook. Put them in relevant threads on forums like Reddit and in presentations on Slideshare.

7) Work with Influencers

Making use of influencers is next in our list of YouTube for business tips.

You can make collaborative videos with YouTube influencers. They can even provide social proof for your products or services.

You can also work with influencers in other social networks and ask them to share your videos with their followers.

This is related to the previous entry in this list of YouTube for business tips, actually. Both of them involve making use of YouTube’s nature as a social media site to get better exposure for a brand.

8) Make a Series of Videos

You know how serial TV programming keeps viewers riveted to their screens for the next installment in a story?

Well, you can use a similar principle by creating a video series.

This one of my YouTube for business tips works better if you’re regular about when you publish each video in the series too.

It can keep your audience coming back for more. Just remember to publish them as part of a playlist for your audience’s convenience.

9) Keep Channels Focused

Why do I say “channels” and not “channel”?

Because you can actually have at least 2 channels for your company.

One channel can be for the content you mean for your consumers.

The other can be for your corporate video content.

Keeping the two separate is one of my YouTube for business tips. It avoids confusing your viewers with mixed messages in your content.

This also makes using YouTube analytics to get insights about your audience easier, as it separates the two demographics (consumer and corporate audiences).

10) Use Google Trends for Topic Research

Running a little dry on topic ideas? Use Google Trends!

With it, you can discover trending topics as well as keywords you can use for your videos.

The beauty of using it to come up with video subjects is that you’re assured that search traffic for the topic is already there.

It can also give you added insights into things like which locations show the highest interest in a search query or what its total search volume has been over time.

11) Interact with Your Viewers

The last of my YouTube for business tips is about remembering the social character of YouTube.

You should be interacting with your audience in order to encourage their engagement and continued viewership.

Like or reply to comments they leave on your videos. Answer questions they might have afterwards.

You can even create a specific video to address queries or concerns they may have left on another video.
