Easy White Hat Techniques For Backlink Building

Easy White Hat Techniques For Backlink Building - backlinking building

“Easy White Hat Techniques For Backlink Building” written by Mike Marko.

One of the most important parts of your SEO strategy is establishing quality backlinks. This is also known as backlink building.

Unfortunately, backlink building is usually a nightmare for beginners. In fact, most business owners end up just hiring an SEO company to do it for them.

If you’re a marketing novice who can’t afford that, you don’t have to worry about it, though.

That’s because here, I’ll show you the techniques that can guide your backlink building. With these techniques, you should find yourself collecting links in no time!

How to Get SEO Backlinks

Backlinks are among the main building blocks of SEO or search engine optimization. These are links on other websites that are directed to your website.

The more backlinks that you have, the more popular your website usually is. More (high-quality) backlinks also usually means better placement in search engine results page or SERPs.

That’s because search engines like Google prefer websites that have a lot of quality backlinks. It tells them that real people value the content on such websites highly.

The problem is that some try to take advantage of that by doing “black hat” link building. This is a type of link building that goes against search engine rules, like Google’s guidelines.

When search engines detect practices like these, they often penalize the websites using them. That’s why we’re not going to discuss backlink building tactics like those here.

Instead, I’ll show you how to get quality SEO backlinks the “white hat” way. In other words, you’ll learn techniques that search engines approve of.

In fact, let’s get started with one of the most innocent backlink building techniques ever.

Ask For Backlinks

Yes, it’s true. You can actually ask for backlinks.

I’m guessing you didn’t expect this because it’s almost too simple. However, this is actually one of the best ways to get backlinks to your website.

But how do you actually ask for backlinks?

The first thing you need to do is find relevant websites or blogs in your niche. These should have high domain authority and SERP rank.

Check out each site’s contact page and find a contact email address. Write an email to the webmaster asking for a backlink to your website.

It’s often best to point out one of your webpages or articles as the one you want them to link to. You may also single out one of their webpages where such a link would be of value.

Keep in mind that you should have quality content for this to work. Webmasters, especially the ones with high-authority websites, are very picky when it comes to sites they link to.

Have an Editorial about Your Business

If you want to get backlinks fast, you also have to get in touch with the online news media.

Blogs or news outlets get millions of views. Because if you think about it, most of them deliver entertainment and news to people today.

That’s why people flock to their websites. Now can you imagine what would happen if you were linked to some of them?

One way to do backlink building via these online media outlets is through editorials. Choose an online website within your niche and entice them to write an editorial about you.

Afterwards, it would only be natural for that editorial to link to your website.

Have Your Own YouTube Channel

There are a billion active users on YouTube. In fact, it’s actually the second biggest search engine today.

And through this platform, you’ll find another easy way to get quality backlinks to your site. All you have to do is simply make your own YouTube channel.

Once your channel is up, optimize it, and make sure to add your site URL to each video’s description section.

Take note that backlink building isn’t the only benefit you can get out of this. YouTube is also a great source of website traffic.

It’s very likely that users who come from YouTube to your website found your videos interesting. Thus, they’re willing to learn more about you — which makes them a high-intent audience!

Have an Affiliate Program

Okay, let’s answer this first for those who don’t know. What’s affiliate marketing?

This is a type of marketing that’s based on performance — a business rewards the affiliate for every visitor or customer brought in by the marketing efforts of the affiliate.

If you want to boost your backlink status, this is another quick way to gain as many backlinks as you can. Just start an affiliate program for your backlink building.

If the program is set up properly, you can guarantee a lot of advertisers who’ll link back to your website. This type of program is most useful for E-commerce websites.

Ask for Reviews

What clients have to say about your products and services is very important. But did you know that reviews aren’t just for building your reputation as a brand?

You can also make use of reviews to get more backlinks to your website!

One way to do this is to ask for feedback from your clients, of course. Ask them to link to your site when they write reviews for your products or services.

Create Reviews for Other Websites

Another way to do backlink building is by writing reviews for other websites. You’ll be surprised what this act of goodwill can do for your SEO.

Choose specific websites that you are familiar with and that you would want to be associated with. Make sure that the reviews that you write are honest and comprehensive.

Of course, if you’re only going to write a bad review, then you might as well not write at all! This type of backlink building only works if your review is mostly positive.

Once you’re done with your review, just send an email to the webmaster to tell them you’ve left a review. And of course, ask if they can link to your website!

Interact on Forums & Discussion Boards

One of the things I love most about forums and other discussion boards is that you can put your website in your bio.

But it doesn’t end there. You can also engage other users on forums to do backlink building.

In fact, you’ll find that you can also build a reputation on these platforms. Not only will you get backlinks in return, but who knows?

You might even grow your network here and find more clients!

So, don’t take for granted the power of these forums. If you have the budget for it, you can even hire someone to manage your accounts on several forums and discussion boards.

Leave Comments on Blog Posts

Another way to gain high-quality backlinks is to leave comments on popular blog posts.

Check out authority blogs that are relevant to your website, in particular. Keep in mind that your comment should be real, however.

If you’re only copying and pasting comments or leaving irrelevant ones, your email or IP address might get banned.

That’s why you should always make sure that you leave a helpful comment. You can do this by providing more insight on the topic.

You can also ask questions through your comment. This can boost engagement, which makes asking the publisher for a backlink easier.

Check Out Your Competitors’ Backlinks

Another way to do backlink building for your website is to analyze how your competitors are getting theirs.

There are a number of tools that’ll help reveal the backlink status of your competitors. You can use either SEMRush or Ahrefs.

By knowing where rivals’ backlinks are coming from, you can create an even better backlink building strategy. You can also use this to connect with blogs, directories, and websites they’re linked to.

Be Part of Reputable Directories

There are a lot of online directories today. However, you should only be in the trustworthy ones.

That’s because not all directories are good for your business. Some may only hurt your ranking instead of helping it!

That’s why it’s important that you do your research first before you actually sign up. Look for directories within your niche and evaluate their reputations.

Moz has a link explorer tool that you can use for this purpose. This will help you assess if the directory is something you can be a part of or not.

Create an eBook

This is a great strategy to get quality backlinks. In order for it to work, though, you’re going to have to make a very good eBook.

While writing your eBook, make sure you have (smartly-placed) links to your site in it. Once you’re done with it, you can add the eBook to your website as a free giveaway.

Have a Newsletter Subscription

It’s very important that your website has an email subscription functionality. It may sound simple, but trust me, it’ll do wonders for your backlink building.

Aweber is one of the best email automation tools that you can use for this… not to mention it has a free trial!

Be a Part of Quora

If you’re not yet a part of Quora, then it’s time that you signed up.

For those who don’t know what this is, Quora is a question and answer platform.

Users can ask questions and answer questions. The platform is a great place for backlink building.

Another great thing about the platform is that the topics and discussions here are indexed on search engines. This way, you get to add deep links back to your website from Quora.

Gain Back Lost Links

You might have experienced losing links already and don’t worry, this happens all the time.

The good news is, you can actually regain these. Start by finding lost links using SEMRush or Ahrefs again.

When you do find them, all you have to do is get in touch with the sites’ webmasters to regain them. Simple!

Have Linkable Content

Linkable content is a type of content that is made to attract links. You’re going to need a good writer to produce this sort of thing.

When I say linkable content, this is not a product or commercial page. It should simply be linkable content, like an article or blog post.

Linkable content is often a well-researched source of information on the topic it takes up. It’s in-depth and it’s evergreen, besides also catering to a niche audience.

Some examples of linkable content are the following:

  • Tutorials,
  • eBooks,
  • Resource guides,
  • Detailed infographics,
  • Case studies,
  • Demos, and
  • Podcasts.

Be Part of Twitter

Social media has come a long way. It has become a haven for digital marketers today as well as business owners.

One vital social media platform to help you with your backlink building is Twitter.

This is since tweets rank well on Google. And for you, you can add a tweet share button to your web pages as another way to gain more backlinks.

With this Twitter share button on your website, you’ll be able to let users share your website content on social media.

Of course, you have to keep your content interesting enough for sharing, though!

Try Wikipedia

When it comes to authority websites, Wikipedia is definitely number one. And with that being said, backlinks from this website are some of the most powerful links that you can get today.

So, how can you get backlinks from this website?

You can do so through dead link retrieval.

Dead links are links that are no longer active. This means that the content they linked to are no longer there.

You can take advantage of this by creating content where the link can lead. The idea is to supply replacement content that offers everything the original source did (and even more!).
