Why Is LinkedIn Relevant?

LinkedIn is a business and employment-oriented service that operates via websites and mobile apps and is owned by Microsoft.  People use Linkedin for employment purposes, to connect with other professionals, or to find potential business partners.

LinkedIn now has over 575 million users worldwide where more than half of it are active users.

Active users are people who have logged in to the network within the last 30 days.  40% of active users logged in every day.

Consider the following demographic profile of LinkedIn users:

Is LinkedIn Effective?

According to Linked to Authority, the following are important LinkedIn numbers:

  • 51% of companies acquired a B2C customer through LinkedIn.
  • LinkedIn has generated more leads for B2B companies than Facebook, Twitter or blogs.
  • 64% of visits to corporate websites were coursed through LinkedIn.
  • 93% of B2B marketers consider LinkedIn to be the most effective site for lead generation.

Please see my blogs Building the Best B2B LinkedIn Strategy for Business and Why You Should Start Using LinkedIn for Business? for added information.

Based on these numbers, LinkedIn is relevant and effective.  It can really help you market your business.

Using LinkedIn for marketing purposes is a viable option.

It’s now time to discuss the “how.”

Post Actionable Content

Now that you have a LinkedIn page setup, it’s time to share content.

Sharing or creating content is crucial when using LinkedIn for marketing. The content you can share could either in an article, images, or video format.

It is advisable to post bits of information when doing an article content.  You can then share the link to the full blog article.

You should have 5 published posts immediately to bolster your credibility.  Your content should be unique, and should stand out for there are more than 100,000 articles published in LinkedIn every week.

You can refer to my blog post, How to Create an Effective LinkedIn Content Strategy, for further information.

Use the Matched Audience LinkedIn Feature

Matched Audiences helps in optimizing LinkedIn as an even more effective advertising platform.

This feature allows users to retargeting of site visitors, uploading of existing accounts, and adding email contacts to target with LinkedIn ads.

With it, you may compose sponsored content, text ads, or even send out targeted messages with a sponsored InMail.

Use LinkedIn’s Search Feature

Another way of using LinkedIn for marketing is by utilizing the search feature.

Through this feature, your company can target individuals who you believe will be good clients or usable contacts for your business.

You can set filters to further streamline your search. This allows you to be proactive and focused when zeroing in on your targets.

Make LinkedIn’s Groups Work for You

Just like any social media platforms, LinkedIn also has the groups feature.

LinkedIn’s group features allow you to connect and interact with fellow business owners in your industry. Through these groups, you can create conversations regarding the latest happening in your industry with the people that can relate the most.

Join the groups that will help you increase your network and clientele.  You can even have separate discussions with other members of these groups.

You can also start your own group.  This will make you the curator and apparent leader in the industry your group is based on.

It’s your choice to make this a standard group wherein it is visible in search results and members can invite other people.

Or, an unlisted one where you as the owner and a select few can invite members.  This particular group will not be searchable.

Consider Using LinkedIn’s Paid Features

LinkedIn also has paid features designed to further enhance your marketing efforts.

The first one is InMail which is LinkedIn’s built-in email add-on.  InMail allows you to reach out to other individuals or companies within the LinkedIn network.

This means the individuals you’ve found and the relationships you’ve built in groups can be leveraged in a more personal format.

InMail response rate is three folds than that of a traditional email.  And it has built-in analytics to help you fine-tune your messages

The next one is Sales Solutions which allows you to target, research, and engage with new prospects in one seamless motion.  LinkedIn claims that through Sales Solutions, you’ll create 35% larger deals and open up to 34% more opportunities for your money.
