What Is Internet Marketing?

The intent of internet marketing is to promote business services and products to a target audience.

Internet marketing encompasses a spectrum of techniques that includes (but is not limited to):

  • Websites
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
  • Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising
  • Social Media Marketing (SMM)
  • Email Marketing
  • Content Marketing

Basically, you try to digitally connect with your audience where they spend a significant amount of their time.

When you “perform” internet marketing, you are putting into practice a wide range of skill sets such as:

  1. Technical know how
  2. Creativity
  3. Marketing psychology
  4. Strategic planning
  5. Business processes

If you don’t have any one of these skills then you are not going to be as successful.

And you probably don’t have time to spend hours every day mastering marketing (and keeping up with what works… which literally changes on a monthly basis) while running and managing your business.

Besides, what makes matters worse, most training found online is probably at least 6 to 24 months out of date. That means you will constantly be playing the catch-up game: assuming you know what is outdated (again, you don’t know what you don’t know).

That’s why people often hire or consult with an “expert”.
