Social media marketing can be tough…

And really any marketing online can be tough.

If you do it the wrong way.

Many consultants and small business owners have a hard time getting traction with their internet marketing. They may get a website, setup some social media accounts, try some SEO, and still get little to no measurable results.

They may even hire an individual or firm to help them and still it’s much of the same… nothing.

At this point, they often say “it doesn’t work” or “I don’t have time for this”.

I get it because I often come across people that feel this way after struggling to get traction marketing online.

That’s why today I want to take the time to talk to you further about  how to use what I call the Pervasive Presence engine. I’m going to expand on the previous blog post, How to Promote your Business with Pervasive Presence.

Making Pervasive Presence Work

In a previous blog post, I introduced Pervasive Presence.  This is where you are omnipresent… everywhere to your target audience.  You can accomplish this through a variety of different digital assets, as shown in the diagram below.

As you can see in the illustration above, the idea is to be everywhere to your target audience.  This includes:

  • the timing of your content,
  • the frequency you show up,
  • and the platforms you use.

But if you are everywhere to your target audience, you are akin to a mosquito.  Worse, if you really ramp up the omnipresence you are like a swarm of mosquitoes.

You’ll actually repel your audience because you’ll look really spammy.  While you will get business that way, you’ll be wasting money and churning through your audience.

That’s why I want to introduce two more important elements of the Pervasive Presence engine: Relevancy and Intimacy.

If you just post for posting sake, you don’t bring value.

You are just annoying.

That’s why it’s important to also be relevant.

If you are of interest to your target audience, and help them solve their problem, you get some traction.

Relevancy consists of:

  • the offer,
  • your messaging,
  • and your positioning in the market

it’s the basic direct marketing.


Intimacy is how open you are to your audience.  This includes:

  • your transparency to your values,
  • talking about past struggles (vulnerability),
  • and conversation (engaging into a two way conversation with your audience).

This allows your audience to get to know you.


Focusing on Just One

If you focus on just relevancy you are the “marketing nobody”.  This is like the doctor you don’t like, but still listen to because they know what doing and you trust that they have a relevant solution to your problem.

if you focus on just prominence you are like a “mosquito”.  This is like using a billboard that is broadcasting everywhere.

If you focus on just intimacy you are in the “friend zone”.  You are building relationships and not actually working towards the offer (you don’t have authority since you are not relevant).

Combining Omnipresence, Relevancy, and Intimacy

When you start combining these different elements then your business starts to accelerate in growth.

You have the right message to your audience, and showing up at the right time.  You can charge what you want.

Omnipresence and Intimacy

You can plug into and connection.  You build very strong “tribe” dynamics.  This allows you to establish the perfect connection.

This is how you develop a strong following.

Relevancy and Intimacy

This is where you find the ideal client.  If you are totally transparent, sharing your values and background, and are relevant to your audience and have the right messaging then you connect with those of equal value and match up with the right needs.  Things flow when you work with them.

Relevancy + Omnipresence + Intimacy

When you combine the perfect client with the perfect price and the perfect connection you get explosive business growth.

So How Do You Implement the Pervasive Presence?

If you are already selling products, then chances are you are implementing at least one of the three.  In that case, you need to dial in and refine what you are doing.

Step 1 – Messaging

Determine and refine your purpose, Mission, and values.  You need to know who you are going to resonate with in order to know how to promote to them.

This also includes identifying your target audience.

This step helps you get intimate with your target audience.

Step 2 – Build the Marketing Funnel

Determine the offer, and get them into your marketing funnel.

This step helps you be relevant to your audience.

Step 3 – Building Out the Digital Assets

Build out the platforms of the chart above, knowing where your target audience is likely to be.

This step helps you become omnipresence to your audience… scaling up.
