Make a Company Page on LinkedIn

Some people might ask why they even need a guide on how to make a company page on LinkedIn. After all, isn’t sign-up typically the easiest part of the process when you join a social network?

It may seem like that, but the truth is, a lot of things can go wrong when you make a company page on LinkedIn.

You might choose the wrong name for it, for instance.

Or you may think merely signing-up is equivalent to really making a company page on LinkedIn. (It’s not, or not if you want your page to be worthy of representing your business.)

So most business owners can truly profit from a guide on how to make a company page on LinkedIn. In fact, let’s go ahead and get started on it, so you can see the benefits for yourself.

Sign up and Create Your Company Page

As I suggested earlier, you need to sign up for a personal account on LinkedIn before you can make a company page on LinkedIn.

The process of signing up for a personal account on LinkedIn is almost the same as that for other social media platforms. You just need a valid email address to verify your account.

However, LinkedIn does have a different set of requirements before you can create a company page.

Before you can make a company page on LinkedIn, make sure that your LinkedIn profile contains your true first and last name. Also, your profile must be at least 7 days old.

LinkedIn requires this to prevent people from creating a large number of inactive and dummy company pages on its network. This is something that has already happened on Facebook after all, so it’s a genuine concern.

Once your profile meets the requirements, just log in to your account and click the “Create company page” button on the upper right corner of your screen.

After clicking the “Create company page” button, the next page will then ask you to enter your company name and URL for your page. When choosing a company name, make sure to use the actual name of your brand.

There are instances when your company name already has a duplicate. It can happen even to companies whose names seem relatively unusual.

It’s unfortunate, but it will give you a chance to flex your creative muscles. Try to think up ways to differentiate your company’s name from the duplicate’s.

To avoid confusing your customers, you should also make sure that you choose a unique URL for your company page.

To help you do that, here are some guidelines in making a URL for your company page:

  • Have at least one non-numeric character.
  • Can be a lowercase alphabet, numeric, hyphen, or Chinese, Japanese, or Korean (CJK) Unicode.
  • It should not include more than one consecutive hyphen ( your–company).

Complete Details About Your Company

After you make a company page on LinkedIn, the next thing you need to do is add information to it.

Technically, this is still part of how to make a company page on LinkedIn. After all, there’s no point in a company page without data on the company it represents.

Your company page will have more visitors and followers if it contains important information about your business. That’s because people only visit and follow pages that look professional or legitimate.

Completing the required information on your company page will make it look professional. To do that, click “Overview” and add the following to your company page:

  • Logo,
  • Company description,
  • Website URL,
  • Company size,
  • Industry,
  • Company type, and
  • Location.

In addition to that, make sure to list your important products or services. Also include or give a link to your product and service reviews or testimonials.

Doing this can even increase your sales since your followers and visitors can more easily see your products and their value.

Increasing Your Page’s Visibility on the Internet

Every time you make changes to the “Overview” of your company page, make use of SEO or search engine optimization. This will help you increase your page’s visibility on the Internet.

SEO involves the usage of keywords. Your company page should include keywords that are related to your business, products, services, or industry.

LinkedIn users can see your company page by just searching for keywords related to your business. You can use keywords in the description or summary of your company. Your content should also include a keyword so it’ll appear in search engine results.

Using Your Company Page Effectively

You should not stop using LinkedIn after setting up your company page. Remember, having a token presence on LinkedIn is not enough.

You need to take action to get the attention of your target audience. That is, you need an active presence in order to truly establish yourself on the platform.

Fortunately, LinkedIn has all the tools you need to market your business. You just need to make use of them after you make a company page on LinkedIn.

To help you use LinkedIn effectively, consider doing the following.

Post Content on Your Page

When you make a company page on LinkedIn, make sure that you will post content on it regularly. Posting content will make your page look professional and active.

Your content should be about your business or industry. It should also have an interesting caption, eye-catching picture, and the right hashtags so it will get the attention of your target audience.

Posting the right content to your company page will improve the credibility of your brand. People usually follow company pages that have knowledge about a certain topic or industry.

Prioritize Engagement on Your Page

If you post the right content, it’s possible that you’ll have interaction with your audience. Responding to their comments can help in winning their trust.

Getting the trust of your audience or followers can help you in turning them into your future and repeat customers.

With that said, you need to prioritize engagement. Reading and replying to the comments, feedback or complaints on your page can help you improve your products and services.

More than that, it contributes to your company’s reputation.
