Your LinkedIn social media strategy might not even include a lot of socializing. This is understandable because a lot of online business owners expect connections to come to them.

However, your LinkedIn social media strategy shouldn’t rely on users coming to you on their own.

Most of the time, you’ll need to add steps to your LinkedIn social media strategy in order to grow your reach.

In the same way, you should go beyond simply keeping your profile up to date. A good LinkedIn social media strategy is more multifaceted than that.

However, this doesn’t mean that your LinkedIn social media strategy should always rely on opportunities coming to you.

Eventually, opportunities will come rushing in… but your LinkedIn social media strategy needs to encourage them to come too.

Furthermore, you need to develop a higher sensitivity to identify them when they come. They’re not always obvious, so you might be missing them even though they’re already present.

Start by looking through your connections to find possible opportunities. This can be your way to lay down your network’s foundations, for example.

People you follow and your own followers will most likely be in the same industry. This means that you will have some interests in common.

You can use these interests to find opportunities to grow your business. These opportunities could mean new employees or new business partners.

Keep in mind that opportunities come in all forms and guises. You just have to be open to the possibilities.

A simple request to connect could lead to a long-time business partner. A conversation about a post can lead to you gleaning significant information about your industry.

Your Network Isn’t Growing

As I’ve said before, LinkedIn relies heavily on network-building. This is why your LinkedIn social media strategy should always be concerned with building your network.

Through a network, you can reach a larger audience. This audience could include business partners, influencers, possible employees, and potential customers.

That’s why a bigger network means a bigger audience. You should build your network by finding users or groups to connect with.

Doing this can be easy because LinkedIn has created features that suggest users and groups that you might be interested in.

You can even connect with people you’ve met in person. All you have to do is ask them if they would like to connect with you on LinkedIn.

You should then use your similarities to build stronger connections with them. Use these similarities to convince them that they should be in your network.

Your connection with them can eventually give you access to their own networks and audiences.

You Aren’t Reaching Out to Your Connections

Upon building your connections, you should also reach out to them.

Your connections are supposed to be stepping stones in your LinkedIn social media strategy. So, make them feel like more than another name in your network list.

You can do so by simply engaging in conversation with them. This can be done through messages or even commenting on status updates or articles.

You can even share their content. Did they post something relevant to your business? Then let your followers see it too!

Engaging with your connections can begin immediately after adding each other into your networks. By simply thanking them for accepting the connection, you can interact with them.

However, it’s advisable not to talk about sales immediately when engaging with your connections. This is because frequent talk about business and sales can turn people away.

As much as possible, don’t limit yourself to one-time engagement with others. This means that you should also make an effort to build relationships with them.

You can do so by paying attention to those who frequently engage with you and your social media page. Doing so should be a huge part of your LinkedIn social media strategy.

You should frequently engage with them as well in order to build trust and rapport.

You can even help link several of your connections together. Doing so helps your reputation.

You Aren’t Building Authority

Lastly, your LinkedIn social media strategy should also focus on establishing your name in your industry.

You need to rise above a sea of other LinkedIn users if you want to be recognized, after all.

Users in your industry should be able to see you as an expert in your field. That’s why you should strive to show your expertise to your connections.

Doing this encourages them to trust your knowledge and skills in the business. This makes you their go-to person for anything related to the industry.

Doing this also makes you credible and reliable. Eventually, users won’t second-guess you when they approach you for help.

In order to help build your authority, you should have insight into the interests and problems of your connections.

This means that you should find out what is important to them and provide it to them.

For example, if you’re a medical practitioner, you should always have answers to health-related questions. You should also consider sharing information on it from time to time.

You should also be consistent in providing expert information. You can do this through interactions, group conversations, and even your status updates.

You should never lose hope on your LinkedIn social media strategy. Even if your LinkedIn social media strategy seems like it’s ineffective, there are always ways to improve it.

Firstly, if you aren’t looking hard enough for opportunities, you can start to do so right away. Doing so can benefit various aspects of your LinkedIn marketing, from your connections to your reach.

You should then be mindful of your own LinkedIn network. Your LinkedIn social media strategy will heavily rely on your connections, so you need an actual audience.

You should also make an effort to actually connect with the users in your network. They aren’t just contacts that you collect — they’re actual people you can exchange information and deals with.

Finally, your LinkedIn social media strategy needs to include making a name for yourself and your business.

Standing out from among other businesses can be a tough task, but showcasing your expertise can give you a huge boost.

So, when you check your LinkedIn social media strategy again, keep these pointers in mind. They just might be what your LinkedIn social media strategy is missing.
