“7 Perfect Instagram Marketing Campaign Examples” written by Mike Marko

As more brands discover the power of Instagram, ever more amazing Instagram marketing campaign examples are coming out. Today, we’ll take a look at 7 of the best ones.

Studying great Instagram marketing campaign examples can be good for you. That’s if you’re thinking of using the platform yourself.

Seeing how other brands have done it successfully may give you ideas for your marketing. It may also inspire you to come up with your own original campaigns.

With this list of Instagram marketing campaign examples, I’ll show you how best to market on Instagram. After this article, you should find it easier to create promotions of your own.

Inspiring Instagram Marketing Campaign Examples

There are many Instagram marketing campaign examples worth seeing, of course. Far more than seven!

But the ones I’ve listed here are the ones that I think Instagram beginners would most profit from.

Why do I say that? Because they show off the rules of good Instagram marketing so well.

From learning to piggyback trends to making use of co-promotions, they give marketing lessons every business owner should learn.

So without further ado, let’s get started. Here’s my list of the best Instagram marketing campaign examples!

advantages and disadvantages of instagram

1) Lego and the Royal Wedding

I want you to think about this pairing — Lego and the #RoyalWedding.

Just a look at that combination makes you scratch your head. That’s if you haven’t seen this one of my favorite Instagram marketing campaign examples yet.

After all, what in the world could Lego have to do with a royal wedding?

Strictly speaking, nothing. Lego’s a toy company, as we all know.

But that didn’t stop it from making the most of a trending hashtag/topic.

More importantly, it did it in a way that made its products relevant to a distant subject.

It showed the sort of creativity that its toys encourage in children. It did that by depicting Prince Harry’s recent wedding using Lego bricks.

The image got more than 100,000 views and nearly 400 comments.

Note that Lego does this for other topics too, like holidays and current events. Each one of its posts using this strategy gets a lot of attention.

How can you do this for your brand? Try to come up with marketing material that’s connected to popular topics on social media.

Think of ways to link your products or services to those topics. It can even be humorous, if you can’t find a serious connection to make.

Anyway, a funny take on it would be closer to this one of my Instagram marketing campaign examples.

2) DJI’s Instagram Videos

DJI is one of the biggest names in drone technology. It uses its products to create beautiful visual material.

It also acts in partnership with video producers on Instagram to come up with amazing user-generated content.

User-generated content or UGC is often a good idea for Instagram marketing. In fact, we’ll see it in a few more of our Instagram marketing campaign examples later.

In DJI’s case, it’s especially effective because of the quality of the UGC involved. Check out the brand’s videos under the #Phantom4Pro hashtag, in particular.

3) L’Oréal’s Infallible Campaign

Cosmetics brand L’Oréal has one of the best Instagram accounts. It always puts out great Instagram marketing campaign examples.

For this list of Instagram marketing campaign examples, I’ve decided to include its “Infallible” campaign.

This was a product line that L’Oréal released in 2015.

To promote it, they released photos of models sporting the “Infallible” cosmetics line against a white, wintry backdrop.

Why was it effective? Because the “Infallible” line was made up of very brash, strong colors.

The colors were especially striking against the winter backgrounds used in the campaign.

The result was one of the most memorable beauty campaigns ever run on Instagram.

4) Lokai’s UGC

As I mentioned in another of my Instagram marketing campaign examples earlier, UGC is among the best marketing material you can use.

Lokai demonstrates that on its account.

Open the brand’s feed and you’ll see that it’s dominated by UGC.

All of these photos feature the Lokai bracelet, however. Thus they don’t come across as chaotic.

Instead, the feed is coherent and appealing.

Perhaps most importantly, it’s also effective at promoting the brand’s product.

This is one of my favorite Instagram marketing campaign examples because it achieves all of that with little effort from the company itself.

After all, most of the content comes from the consumers.

Thus the company doesn’t even need to invest that much effort to make marketing material.

5) Marc Jacobs and #CastMeMarc

This is another of my favorite Instagram marketing campaign examples due to the interactive strategy it uses.

Marc Jacobs came out with this campaign way back in 2014.

The designer called for aspiring models to apply on Instagram to be part of his brand’s Fall line then.

All they had to do was post photos with the #CastMeMarc hashtag to be considered.

By the end of the submission period, there were 70,000 entries.

This is one of the best Instagram marketing campaign examples for engagement. It got people to participate and even those who didn’t still talked about and shared it.

If you can find a way to involve customers in your promotions, do it.

The recruitment strategy used by Marc Jacobs shows an alternative to asking for UGC from your audience.

Note that this is one of the Instagram marketing campaign examples that were repeated by the brand, by the way. Marc Jacobs did it again in 2016.

And yes, it was successful again then.

6) Marvel’s #CaptainAmericaGraffitiWar

Before Captain America: Civil War came out back in 2016, Marvel produced one of the best Instagram marketing campaign examples for it.

It got 10 graffiti artists to depict the film’s theme on the sides of a large building.

Marvel then released a timelapse video of the artists working on the graffiti.

This is one of the best Instagram marketing campaign examples for several reasons.

First, it involves a very strong piece of visual content. That’s something all the great Instagram marketing campaign examples have.

Second, that content isn’t limited to the screen, so to speak. It has a real-world element to it.

After all, the painted building is actually out there for all to see.

That lends it an added touch of interest. People living near the building would actually think about seeing it in person.

Third, it came with the perfect caption for promoting both the film and campaign. The timelapse video was captioned “The battle hits the streets”.

7) GoPro’s Co-Promotion with The Secret Life of Pets

GoPro is already one of the biggest names on Instagram due to its excellent content.

But it continues to show its marketing muscles with Instagram marketing campaign examples like these.

It partnered with The Secret Life of Pets film for this interesting entry in my list of Instagram marketing campaign examples.

Again, like Lego and the Royal Wedding, the two don’t have the most obvious connection.

But they made it work by releasing clips of the pets from the film using GoPro products to record their antics.

It worked for both parties. GoPro got to market to a younger audience, and the film was promoted to an older one.

That sort of two-for-one kick makes it worthy of being in this list of the best Instagram marketing campaign examples.

Final Thoughts on These Great Instagram Marketing Campaign Examples

That wraps up my list of amazing Instagram marketing campaign examples for now.
