Your Twitter Username

If somebody else has already taken the username that you want to use, use a unique username that’s somehow related to your business. It is important to keep in mind that you need to establish your business on Twitter. So don’t pick a username unrelated.

Twitter Profile Picture

Make your profile shine. Put in your business’ logo as your profile picture (must be 120 by 120 pixels in size). If you want a personal touch, then you can use your own photo but remember to put your business logo on the header photo.

The reason why a business logo should be used is to avoid confusion to your future followers and customers. It can also help Twitter users to easily identify your business when they search for it.

Twitter Profile Header

The header, or banner, is sized at 1252 by 626 pixels. Use your header to help further describe your business since the description field only allowed a limited number of characters.

Your Twitter Profile Description

Provide your customers with a profile that basically says, “This is what you’ll get.”

You only have enough space for a few short sentences so make the best use of that space. Create a description that will get your desired market’s attention.

Your description is important because if they read it and it clicked they will continue looking through your profile. However, the description field only allows 160 characters. Make sure to only include the important things about your business. The description should tell what your business can offer or what it could do.

Your Business Website Address

Adding your business’ website and location in your profile is advisable because it could help your potential customer to know where you’re located, or better how best to contact you.

When getting started learning how to use twitter for small business you need to start right away on building your following. You’re business isn’t really credible if you only have 100 followers.

Don’t just starting following hundreds of people all in one sitting. Twitter has a daily follow limit. If you go beyond that limit Twitter may put your account on hold… or flat out close it down.

And I bet you don’t want that to happen, right?

Be selective when following users on Twitter. It would be advisable for you to follow potential customers, business partners, and influencers.

Influencers are good to help you connect with possible customers. They can be influential customers, journalists, or even a famous figurehead in the society.

You can find your influencers by searching industry keywords that are associated with your business. Find those influencers whose tweets keep on getting retweeted the most.

Promote Your Business By Tweeting

Since you only have a small business, be mindful in composing your tweets. It must be planned carefully. And it should focus only on your business objectives.

Where possible plan to add pictures or videos (.jpg,.png,.gif, etc.) Make sure that it is also catchy and are congruent with your tweets. These are a good way for future customers to check your tweets and follow your account.

Twitter also provides Twitter Ads. By using Twitter Ads, your tweets will appear on the targeted audience of your business. This feature is useful especially for new accounts to instantly attract possible followers. Aside from your tweets, your account will also be recommended to other users.

Don’t Forget your Tags

Tags, also known as hashtags, are key to Twitter. It’s an essential tip when you are looking to learn how to use twitter for small business.

Hashtags in Twitter are like keywords to SEO (search engine optimization). They are essential to helping people find you when they are searching topics in Twitter.

A lot of Twitter users rely on hashtags when they tweet. They take the time to search for the latest trend locally or around the world. Use this opportunity to connect your tweets with the trending hashtags.

You can find local trending hashtags through the search option provided by Twitter. This option will be beneficial for you. Find local potential customers through the advanced search option and engage with them.

Create a unique tweet, add in a trending hashtag, and click tweet!

Lists can help you focus more on what your potential buyers like or prefer. It’s a useful option when you are looking to learn how to use twitter for small business. You can also use it as a guide on what your future tweets will be since the lists include your preferred Twitter accounts.

Lists can be made publicly or privately where the members won’t know they are part of the lists that you created.
