Are you wondering how to use Facebook for business that gives you a good return on your time and money?

As competition in the market becomes more fierce, the chances of survival for your business decreases. The only way to combat this is to actively market your business to your target audience.

How do you do this?

It’s simple.

Take advantage of the rising popularity of social media platforms, such as Facebook.  With millions of active users, Facebook enables you to spread information regarding your business to a lot of potential customers in an instant.

In this article, we will discuss the basic steps on how to use Facebook for business to set you on the right track.

Tips on How to Use Facebook for Business

There is no doubt that Facebook is the largest social networking platform. The presence of more than half of the world and user-friendly features also made it one of the most powerful marketing tools for businesses.

However, using Facebook can result in a hit or miss for your business depending on how it’s done.

When utilized correctly, your engagement with your fans or customers can propel the growth of your business.  If used incorrectly it can result in major setbacks.

So how does a business go about using Facebook?

In the following steps I’m going to tell you how to use Facebook for business.

Create Your Page

Start by creating your own Facebook business page. Your Facebook page serves as your business’ Facebook profile and should primarily reflect your brand.

Business Logo and Cover Photo

Images are an important part of your page. A primary photo is necessary as it appears first upon searching for your page and for this, you can use your business logo.

Additionally, you should set up a cover photo for the page. This should be attractive enough to capture the interest of the users and informative enough to let the users know what your business is all about.

It’d be easier to convince Facebook users to check out your entire business page once these photos are set up on your page.

I treat a Facebook page as I would a website, therefore it needs to answer the following questions within 2-3 seconds of the visitor landing on the page:

  1. Who are you
  2. What’s the benefit for the visitor to do business with you
  3. What primary action you want visitors to do (contact you, phone call, etc).

Profile Description

A few creative sentences that describe your brand would help customers to easily remember your page. At the same time, it is a good opportunity to inform the customers what products and services you can offer them.

The profile description should also have a few keywords to help searchers find your page.

Share Your Page

By sharing your page on your timeline, groups, or personal messages to friends and acquaintances, you can increase awareness about your brand. To extend your reach even further, politely ask if they are willing to share it amongst their own circle.

You can share your page by clicking the Share button below the page’s cover photo. By clicking the drop-down menu, you can select where you want the Facebook business page to be shared.

In addition, publishing a short and visual post will most likely drive a higher number of comments, shares, and likes from your Facebook followers.

Start Making Connections

On the Admin menu page, there’s a tool that can help build an online following called “Build Audience”. Using this allows you to connect more with your audience and set more connections with your customers.

Facebook also gives you the option to invite both your Facebook friends and email contacts to like your page. This option helps you to spread the word to people closest to you.

Aside from this, put your Facebook on your website, business cards, email signatures, along with other materials, that can be easily passed along.

Engage with Your Followers

Posting content with quality is better than posting a lot. The quality of your content would be vital to your success as this will encourage your followers to engage with you.

Keep in mind to maintain regular communication with your followers, whether it be publicly on your page or through private messages.

Convey a friendly or conversational tone and persona to make them feel welcomed into your circle.

Leverage the Friends of Your Fans

One way of spreading information to people is through your loyal customers. Set up interesting and relevant polls and questions to encourage your followers to interact with your page.

As a result of this interaction, friends will see their engagement with your page and be enticed to check your page out. You can liken this strategy to “word-of-mouth” advertising.

A common strategy used by businesses to increase engagement is by offering small discounts, special events, and limited-time promotions that only make them eligible if they invite their friends to like your post or page.

Make Use of Facebook Ads

Facebook ads act as another (and much quicker) way of promoting your product. These are promotional posts that, once clicked, redirect your customers to your website, or to start a chat through your Facebook business page.

Taking advantage of Facebook’s data to reach only relevant users and to garner insights on what creatives work best on your audience. Doing so increases your accuracy on the ads you put out.

Final Thoughts About How to Use Facebook for Business

In a landscape where more and more businesses are joining to compete and create growth for themselves, it’s vital to be present where your audience is. To not make use of Facebook’s wide reach of audience can then be a costly mistake.

This is why using Facebook is an important part of our Pervasive PresenceTM system.

However, creating a Facebook page is not enough to inform others regarding your business. It’s also important to publish quality posts in a timely manner to maintain regular interaction with your customers.

But interaction is a two-way street so ensure that you actively respond to messages, posts, and comments on your page to further encourage customers to engage with your page. Always keep a friendly conversational tone and persona for the customers to feel like they are a part of your brand.

The different methods of promoting the page are sharing your page with your friends, groups and e-mail contacts. The use of advertisements to redirect people to your website can also be used to further promote your business.
