Even if you only reach 5% of all of these Facebook users, it means you are showing up on feeds of 100 million people.

Strategy I: Create a Business Page

The first step on how to market your business on Facebook is to create a business page.  

Think of your business page as your physical store signage or a calling card.  This is your identity to the Facebook world.

Fill out the required fields such as:

  1. Page name (your business name) and
  2. Category (there will be a drop down here for appropriate choices).  
  3. Add an eye-catching profile picture (your business logo?)
  4. And cover photo (a nice picture of your business product or location).  

Add a memorable username (this name should be related to your business for people will search based on this).  

Complete it by typing a short description of your business is all about.  You may include your website name, Instagram, Twitter, and any other social media accounts that you may have.

Strategy II: Create a Post

Now that you have your business page created and accessible, it is time to share your thoughts.  This is the second strategy on how to market your business on Facebook.

Promote your product by listing what benefits it has.  Or if it’s a service, then what kind of experience it will afford to its customers.    

Or you may want to give an introductory price just to get these same people to try it. Show your excitement by adding pictures and videos that can create a buzz for your business page.

Facebook makes posting of videos and photos super easy. So all you need is to have that creative mind and start coming up with posts that will hook.

You can share current happenings by choosing Live option or special occasions (Event option),  You can also create promotions through the Offer option or post job advertisements (Job option).

Strategy III: Add a Button

It is now time to give your business page visitors a chance to react or engage to your posts. Add a button to your ad posts. These buttons, or call-to-action (CTA) buttons, let people engage in your posts.

Set up a call to action to your visitors.  Make them do something!

They have the following options:

1) Book an appointment,

2) Contact you,

3) Learn more about your business,

4) Shop, or

5) Use your game or app (if applicable).

Step IV: Invite Your Friends

You have a business page, and you have a special offer post created to get things rolling.  Now it is time for you to market your business on Facebook.

You can start with people that you know.  That is why you will invite your Facebook friends to like it.  You may request them to ask their contacts and friends to like your page.

Step V: Promote Your Page

Let’s face it.  

The world is much bigger than your own circle of friends. Your friends might be living outside of your target community.  Or they may have different interests from what you are selling.

Then you have to market your business on Facebook to people outside of your circle.  

The nice thing about this is that you have the option to specifically target the right customer.  These are the people who will greatly benefit from your product or service.

Facebook has also made it easy by having specific target goals that you can access related to what you have in mind.  They are:

  •       Custom advertising plan
  •       Promote your business locally
  •       Promote your page
  •       Get more website visitors
  •       Get more leads

By choosing one or all of these options, you are maximizing the potential of how to market your business on Facebook.   

Be careful though for these options are not free and may cause you to go above your budget,  Choose the most appropriate Facebook ad based on your situation and available funds.

Step VI: Monitor Your Page

After you have set up promotions for your business page on Facebook, it is time to track how effective these programs are.

There is an inbox button within your page that you may want to keep an eye on regularly.  This way you can know how your business is doing based on the comments and suggestions of your clients.

Also, Facebook has the following tools designed specifically with these tracking purposes in mind.  They are:

  •       Insights
  •       Publishing Tools
  •       Ad center

Make the most of these tools for they can effectively point out the strengths and weaknesses of your business page.  It will help you plot your next moves.
