How to Build Your Online Presence and Grow Your Business from Home

How to Build Your Online Presence and Grow Your Business from Home.

When we first started building our online business, we didn’t know how to build your online presence. We knew enough to blog every day, and to use the blog to get traffic to our capture page. But that was it (at least at first). If you have been in the business for a while, you would’ve already learned that is only a small part when you grow your business from home using the internet.

The purpose of this blog post is to help give you a better perspective of what you need to build to have an effective online business. Now this doesn’t have to be all done at once… far from it. Instead use this as a guide, or a map, or what you need to build over time. Know what every element you build and where it fits into your network.

The Overview to Show You How to Build Your Online Presence

The diagram below illustrated the basics on how you need to build up your online network. This network is key to being able to build your online presence.

How to Build Your Online Presence and Grow Your Business from Home

Your Blog

The blog is the cornerstone of your online business, and it is located on your main website. It is your home base, and it should be given priority over many other aspects of building your online business… especially if you are trying to build something that will last long term. If you blog daily, and use SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and build up your Alexa ranking as quickly as possible, then you will start building traffic to your site. Your blog will lead visitors to your lead magnet or main offer.

The blog I recommend is the Influx Entrepreneur Marketing Platform/Blog.  You can access my affiliate link for it by clicking here.

Lead Magnet

The lead magnet is another important aspect of your online network. The lead magnet is a “gift” to entice visitors to enter their email (and often other information like Name). The lead magnet can be a training video, an informative pdf, or even some education in the form of an audio. Very often it is also built in as a part of your website… even if it is on hidden page.

I use both the capture pages from Influx Entrepreneur’s Marketing Platform combined with an autoresponder, like Aweber or GetResponse, to collect the visitor information.

Email Sequence

Once you get the visitors email because of the lead magnet, they are now part of your email list. Using an autoresponder like Aweber or GetResponse, you take the visitor through a series of predetermined emails in order to both provide them content and tempt them with your offers. You also use emails to bring the visitor back to your blog.

SEO

SEO is a great method to get traffic to your blog and even your lead magnet, if done right. To learn more about SEO check out SEO Basics Tutorial for Beginners – Learn the Basics of SEO, and SEO 101 – Learn the SEO Basics in this SEO Overview.

Article Marketing

This is used to help you reach a broader audience. By posting articles to article marketing sites, and by strategically including backlinks, you can help drive traffic to your lead magnet (and can also be used to get traffic to your blog).

Web 2.0

For a basic definition of Web 2.0 sites check out this Wikipedia definition.  I use Web 2.0’s to repurpose my blog posts after changing them at least by 50%. They generate their own traffic from searches, and can rank on their own (with backlinking). These sites also serve as a great source of back links to your main website.

YouTube

Uploading videos to YouTube and backlinking to your blog is a great way to get visitors to your blog. You can use SEO on videos you upload to help them rank in both the YouTube search engine and Google.

Facebook

Facebook and similar social media sites are a great way to help build up your following, and have links to blog posts as you make them ready.

Twitter

By tweeting links to your blog posts you can help let people know about your blog posts.

Guest Posting

Guest posting is when you create and post blog articles in other blogs. This is a great way to build a following as you will often be allowed to have backlinks to your website. You will have to create unique posts for the blog, and often there will be restrictions when you can repurpose the blog post for other uses.

Blog Comments

Blog comments are another way to get people to learn more about your blog. Get in the habit of posting regularly to some of your favorite (and in same niche) bogs. If you have a relevant blog to the conversation, you may be able to include a link back to your own post. You may have your post deleted if it is viewed as spam, so make sure you try to build rapport as a regular contributor to the comments.

Social Bookmarks

There are lots of ways to create social bookmarks to your blog posts. I like to automatically create mine using OnlyWire. I have it setup to create the bookmarks as soon as I complete a blog post. If you like, you can access my affiliate link for OnlyWire by clicking here.

PPC

PPC, or Pay Per Click, is a great way to drive traffic to your blog posts or your lead magnet. Watch for a future blog post on PPC.
