And while Facebook advertising is adding more and more features, competition is getting tougher. You’re competing with a lot more marketers than you were even a couple years ago.

You can spend $100’s, if not $1000’s with little to show for it. I call it “giving donations to Facebook” because that’s what it feels like.

But chances are you are just not doing them right… or at least not optimally.

Don’t worry, most people make the same mistakes… and there is a more effective technique to getting leads from your ads. That’s why I want to present a proven technique that we use for my clients, with a real world example. Specifically, today we are going to talk about how to build a sales funnel that will work on Facebook.

Previously we talked about how to make a lead magnet for Facebook ads. To continue that discussion, now in the following video we talk about how to build a sales funnel to help with Facebook ads.

So what is a sales funnel? Let’s start with that.

What Is A Sales Funnel

The definition of a sales funnel (also known as a market funnel). A sales funnel is a series of steps that take a potential buyer through a “journey” in order to try to convince them to buy. The steps depend on the particular sales model.

Clear as mud, right? So let’s just dive in so you have a better idea.

How To Build A Sales Funnel – The Pages

A marketing funnel consists of a series of website pages (and also email follow up but we’ll cover those next). The pages are meant to help take the visitor from having zero awareness in you and your brand to full awareness and a desire to buy.

Sounds almost magical. LOL

But this does work… So let’s look at the pages.

As you can see there are a series of pages. Let’s talk about each separately.

Capture Page

The capture page is a web page where you collect emails for your marketing funnel. You can’t just ask for someone’s email… you have to give them a compelling reason.

Thank You Page

There is often a “Thank You” page the follows that capture page, right after the person puts in their contact information and clicks the submit button.

This page can take a lot of forms:

  1. A video saying thank you for opting in, and a very brief who or what they are in the introduction. This is often best if less than 60 seconds long. This is a great way for creating an introduction to cold traffic.
  2. A bridge video where not only does the video say thank you and a brief introduction, but it then introduces a sales video of some sort that is either immediately following or is on the next page.
  3. If you are using a double opt in, this page can tell them to check their email for the confirmation email. It can then tell them what to do next.
  4. This page can instead be the first sales page.

Sales Page

The sale page can take many forms like a video sales letter, sales video, or a long form letter page. The ultimate goal is to try and sell the visitor on the next step. The next step can be to make a purchase, schedule an appointment, etc.


Upsells (or downsells) are trying to get the visitor to consider another purchase after the considered the first offer. This can be a higher priced offering (especially if they bought the first offering), or a lower priced offering (which is effective if they didn’t buy the initial offering and you don’t want them to leave without anything).

If you are trying to get the visitor to schedule a meeting, then the first upsell can be to a Qualification form where they provide some information (which you can use to screen out the tire kickers or time wasters) or it can go directly to a calendar scheduling tool like GetTimely.


The close is where you have your meeting and you try to sell them on a package. Closing is a skill set onto its own and beyond the scope of this blog post.
