I had a late start with LinkedIn.

When I first marketing online, I thought LinkedIn was only for resumes and job seekers.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Luckily, I realized about a year ago that there would be a large shift towards LinkedIn.  With increase Facebook ad costs, and with the more business atmosphere of LinkedIn, a shift was coming to make LinkedIn a valuable part of a B2B (and B2C) marketing plan.

That’s why I realized that LinkedIn needed to be part of the Pervasive Presence™ marketing engine.

It took me a while, but I finally have the kinks out of my LinkedIn marketing techniques.  So instead of having you make the same mistakes I made, today I want to share my lessons learned with you so not only can you create LinkedIn business page, but you also build up your page engagement.

Improve Your Business with a LinkedIn Business Page

Keep in mind that having a presence on LinkedIn isn’t enough. Using this platform strategically can open up a lot of possibilities for your business. But first you need to create a good LinkedIn business page.

LinkedIn is a social media platform designed for entrepreneurs and business owners. Many professionals use this platform to market their skills, achievements, and perhaps to apply for available jobs.

Because LinkedIn is widely used, it’s very wise to take advantage of the platform and market your brand. LinkedIn can indeed help to improve your business.

Now, let’s dive in into the steps on how to create LinkedIn business page.

NOTE: you have to have a personal LinkedIn page.  So if you haven’t used LinkedIn yet, or want to improve your personal LinkedIn profile, check this article out.

Sign up and Create Your Company Page

You need to sign up for a personal account first before you can create a LinkedIn business page. Anyone can sign up on LinkedIn for free, and its process is very simple. All you need to provide is a valid email address to verify your account.

However, LinkedIn only accepts business emails. Business emails are email addresses made specifically for a company. An example would be [email protected]

When filling out the forms to sign up, make sure that you use your real name. You’ll be considered as a fraud or liar if one of your clients or employees found out that you’re not using your legal name.

Aside from that, you should also add a profile photo and background image. You could use your company’s official logo or anything that will describe your band. This is a crucial step because having a good profile photo and background image can help you with your LinkedIn business marketing.

Once you’re done setting up your account, you still need to wait for seven days before you can create a business page. LinkedIn requires this to ensure that you’re committed to using their platform for your business.

Add Details About Your Company

After 7 days, you can now create a company page. Just log in your account, click “Create page,” then “Get started.” The next page will then ask you to add details to your business page.

While you’re editing your business page, make sure that the images that you use are relevant to your business. Doing this will help in making your page look professional.

Aside from that, you should consider adding your company’s logo. Business pages with a logo often get more visits.

Your logo will appear on your employees’ profiles which their connections will see. That increases your brand awareness and visibility on the platform.

After adding images, LinkedIn will also ask you to add information about your business. It’s best to focus on the About Us and Description section of your business page because users often check these first.

You need to get the best out of your business page’s About Us and Description. Make sure to include the following information on both sections.  

  • What does your company do?
  • What do you specialize in?
  • What makes your brand unique?

Also, make your page SEO-friendly while editing your business page. Your description must be powerful and keyword-rich to increase your page’s visibility on your target audience.

However, having a business page on LinkedIn isn’t enough. In order to get the advantages of having a presence on LinkedIn, you need to use it strategically. Take a look at these tips that can help in strengthening your page.

Adding the necessary photos and having a powerful description isn’t enough to make an effective business page. You need to list your important products or services too because it’s more likely that your audience will check this information as well.

In addition to that, you should include a link to your product’s reviews or testimonials. Doing this ensures that your target audience reads legitimate reviews and feedback about your business.

Aside from information about your products or services, you might as well add details about your career information and opportunities. You can recruit quality employees on LinkedIn since it’s a platform for professionals.

Lastly, always post content on your company page. Publishing content such as company news and industry information can help in establishing your authority. Aside from that, posting content regularly can further increase your page’s visibility not only on Linked but on the internet as well.

Usually, businesses on LinkedIn post content to increase their reach and visibility. This is made possible because of the engagement that they get from the content. That’s why it’s important to prioritize engagement.

There are different ways to get engagement, but the easiest and fastest way to do it is by posting content. Many businesses that are marketing online do this because this is the easiest way to get the attention of their audience.

However, you can’t just post content for the sake of posting. You need to have a strategy in your content  to be effective in getting engagement. To help you do that, take a look at these tips on how to get engagement.

  • Ask questions – Asking questions is the best way to get engagement. Give your audience a reason to comment on your updates
  • Show interesting statistics – Share some statistics from a recent customer survey to generate a conversation.
  • Share an interesting link – A post with a link get twice as much engagement than a post without one.
  • Use photo – Adding a photo to your post can increase the comment rate by almost 98 percent
